This includes a short test which will briefly assess speech and language skills to determine whether a more in-depth assessment is required.
Assessment
Before commencing with therapy, an assessment is required in order to determine the nature of the problem and to provide direction for therapy. For children, this will include assessment of articulation, receptive and expressive language, auditory processing skills, phonological awareness abilities, literacy skills. For adults, this will include assessment of swallowing, pronunciation, language, and cognitive-linguistic skills.
Therapy
30 minute, 45 minute and one hour therapy sessions are provided once or twice a week depending on the need and number of areas needing to be targeted.
Workshops & Training
Presentations and educational workshops can be provided to teachers and parents in order to better equip them about what speech therapy entails, speech and language developmental milestones, what to look out for at home or in the classroom and when is an appropriate time to refer for a screening or assessment.
